Endoscopy Procedures

We provide a full range of endoscopy procedures, including the option to undergo both gastroscopy and colonoscopy in the same session for greater convenience and comprehensive evaluation.

Colonoscopy

Provides detailed evaluation of the colon and rectum lining, allowing early detection and removal of polyps to prevent colorectal cancer. It offers peace of mind by combining prevention with early, accurate detection.

Gastroscopy

Offers thorough examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum to identify issues such as ulcers, inflammation or cancer. With quick and accurate diagnosis, it helps patients find lasting relief from digestive discomfort.

Colonic Stenting

Minimally invasive procedure to relieve blockages in the colon by placing a stent, helping restore bowel function and avoid emergency surgery. It provides immediate symptom relief and stabilises patients for further treatment if needed.

Choledochoscopy

Enables precise visual assessment of the bile duct, allowing safe removal of stones and ensuring the duct system is clear. This advanced technique ensures effective treatment and supports long-term digestive health.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I consider an endoscopy?

You may be advised to undergo an endoscopy if you have:

  • Abdominal discomfort
  • Persistent abdominal pain and bloating
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Change in bowel habits e.g., chronic constipation or diarrhoea
  • Blood in stools
What is the difference between a gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and will I need both?

A gastroscopy looks at the upper digestive tract, including the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. While a colonoscopy examines the lower digestive tract, including the colon and rectum.

Each test is used to detect different conditions

  • Gastroscopy: Stomach ulcers, gastritis, acid reflux damage, bleeding, polyps, and cancers of the oesophagus or stomach
  • Colonoscopy: Colorectal polyps, colon inflammation, bleeding, bowel obstruction, and colorectal cancer

In some cases, your doctor may recommend both procedures if symptoms affect multiple areas or if a complete evaluation of your digestive system is needed. At our clinic, both gastroscopy and colonoscopy can be performed safely in the same session, offering greater convenience and comfort.

Is an endoscopy painful?

Most patients experience little to no discomfort as endoscopies are usually done under sedation. You will be relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure, and our team will monitor you closely for your safety.

Is the procedure claimable by insurance or Medisave?

Yes, many endoscopy procedures are covered under insurance and/or Medisave. Surgical Associates is accredited with a wide range of health insurance providers, as well as many corporate insurance panels. Our team will assist you in checking your coverage and guiding you through the claims process for a smooth and worry-free experience.
